• Served in the Royal Malaysian Customs Department for over 33 years, retiring from his last position as Acting Deputy Director-General from the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

• Served in various departments and divisions, including Intelligence and Investigations and at one time in his career, he was also a Commander of a Customs patrol vessel.

• Held management positions in Royal Malaysian Customs, including Head of the Special Investigations Branch (1996-2000), of the Marine and Logistics Branch (2000-2004), of the Anti-Narcotics Branch (2004-2005), Director of Preventive Division.

• Tasked with assisting in the reorganization of the various departments and divisions as part of the modernization program undertaken by the Royal Malaysian Customs in the 1990s.  Such efforts enhanced the efficiency and professionalism of the service.

• Built a strong reputation for his dedication towards the eradication of corruption within the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and persons in the private and public sectors.

• Awarded the Certificate of Merit from the World Customs Organization in 1995 in recognition of his outstanding service and contribution to the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

• Awarded D.I.M.P, an Order of Merit from H.R.H the Sultan of Pahang thereby allowing him to use the title of Dato’, in October 2006.
